e was created to help raise funds to re-establish the station in Searchmont. This station is located at the center of town, and the present building, is the oldest station left on the ACR, dating back to 1902.
The station was first built with a circular waiting room and extended freight shed. With the Goulais station, just down the line, it was
, that Searchmont would be the location of the main station. In 1930, fire struck the station as the known then, as the smoking room (circular waiting room) burnt down that part of the station. In later upgrades that followed after the 40's, the extended freight shed was removed in favour of a smaller station. The Searchmont Station Historical Society (SSHS) is working hard to secure funding, and raising funds in an attempt to rebuild it back to what it was in 1902, before we lose yet another chapter of railway history.
